Pups like children, are opportunists and they will quickly pick up on an inconsistent owner and take
advantage of the situation. They can also suffer as a result. Pups are very sensitive to mood swings of owners and this can
often build insecurity in the pup, which then indulges in stress relieving activities such as digging and chewing.
Inconsistent moods and behavoir patterns in an owner lead to a breakdown in a dog's respect for pack
leadership. An owner must be consistent in methods of training and treatment of the dog. A pup goes through a fear imprint
stage between the age of 8 - 10 weeks and a traumatic experience to a stressed pup at this time can affect its behavior for
the rest of its adults life.
RAT TERRIERS ARE LIKE POTATOE CHIPS, YOU CAN'T JUST HAVE ONE !!!!!
Rat Terriers crave human companionship and attention. They are unusally sensitive and anxious to please, very
determined and thrive on praise. They are good housedogs and can be crate trained. Just move and they're like a shadow! Most
dogs think they are human, Rat Terrier's KNOW that they are! Whether you're active, or a couch potatoe, most will adapt to
about any lifestyle that you may lead.
Most are extremely patient and tolerant of children. especially those of their own. Rat Terrier's
are generally a hardy and long-lived breed that often lives to be 12-18 years old. They have few know health problems. Allergies,
are the highest reported incidents, along with incorrect bites. Rat Terrier's are generally happy-go-lucky, but they are good
watchdogs and these rats will defend "their" property and yours. Any small, quick moving animal is fair game and the chase
is on. Many are escape artists that can climb and jump!!
Being a short-haired breed they DO shed. If you experience a problem, minor, as it may seem, please
don't hessitate to contact me. Don't be embarrasses, I'm always glad to help and happy to hear from you and care about the
welfare of the dog. Regardless of where you obtain a dog, you should take your new family member to a vet with-in 24-48 hours
for a health check.

Do you really have the time it takes care of your family, and to take care of a new puppy, can you afford
the added expenses? Getting a dog is not throwing them in your backyard, and a daily chore of throwing food to it, and
making sure it has water!!! It is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to a member of your family.. Will you have the
patience to go through the puppy stage and adolesence?
Patience. It doesn't happen over night. All dogs have to br taught what is, and what is not, "acceptable" just
as a child must. There will be accidents when potty training and the teething, ALL dogs need time, patience and training if
they are to become a family member and well socialized.
